PART TWO Demonstrating an on-going track record of success (D3)
You need to demonstrate achievement and success in all parts of the Dimensions of the framework – i.e. all
the Areas of Activity, Core Knowledge and Professional Values. This would normally be someone who has
substantive professional experience, has evidence of CPD in pedagogy/teaching and learning and who leads
major programmes and/or mentors colleagues etc. and who can demonstrate their expertise, impact and
influence.
In this section, you should focus in particular on the education, training, employment, roles and experience
which have contributed to your professional development as teacher, mentor, and facilitator of learning and
academic leader. You might include informal activities whether individual, collaborative or team-based, that
you believe have had a significant impact on your academic practice and/or on the practice of others.
You should highlight the primary influences on your own development, focusing on the progressive
attainment of your professional capabilities and how you and others have benefited from the continuous
learning and development process involved.
There is no limit to the list but 10 activities should be sufficient. One activity MUST be a peer support activity.

PART THREE Account of Professional Practice (APP)
You must address all of the Areas of Activity, together with relevant areas of Core Knowledge and all the
Professional Values.
In this section of your application, you need to construct two in-depth case studies which each demonstrate
D3 by evidencing your wider impact, sustained success and influence in teaching and learning in higher
education. The case studies should provide reflective accounts of contributions or experiences which:
have had a significant impact upon the co-ordination, support, supervision, management and/or
mentoring of others (whether individuals and/or teams), in relation to learning and teaching;
demonstrate your sustained effectiveness in relation to learning and teaching and that you meet
the criteria for Senior Fellowship.
Use the two case studies to address different aspects of Descriptor 3, with a focus on your organisation,
leadership and/or management of specific aspects of learning and teaching provision.
At least one of your case studies should evidence your work with others using your skills, knowledge and
awareness in leading, managing or organising programmes, subjects and/or disciplinary areas. Your claim
should demonstrate an integrated and reflective approach to academic practice that incorporates research,
scholarship and/or professional practice.
You can reflect on particular aspects of your work such as:




developing quality enhancement;
supporting other colleagues to enhance their practice;
sustained engagement with educational and staff development;
evaluation of academic practice to develop your practice and to enhance student experience.
There is no prescribed word count here as everyone’s experience is different. Please limit each case to no
more than 2000 words.
Overall word count for section two and section three of the application is no more than 5000.
