Justification (must cite accreditation and/or assessment by the graduate faculty) for new course or course revision or course renumbering: SAFT 6995 is a capstone course, which is often not completed within a one semester term. The MS, Occupational Safety (MSOS) program Graduate Faculty has discussed this problem in length and has come to the consensus that the best solution is to offer this course using 1-3 s.h. credits. This will address the two major MSOS Graduate Faculty concerns; 1) that the current system, under which students can continue the course with an “incomplete” for up to a year, and 2) requiring the students to re-register for a 1 credit independent study to graduate during the semester they plan to graduate. The Department of Technology Systems Graduate Faculty has determined and approved the changes in the credit hours from 3 s.h. to 1-3 s.h. 1 Revised 04-06-11 and posted fall of 2011 6. Course description exactly as it should appear in the next catalog: 6995. Practicum in Occupational Safety (1-3) P/C: Completion of all course work for the MSOS Program degree requirement or consent of MSOS Program Coordinator. May be repeated. May count maximum of 3 s.h. A supervised industry-based project. 7. If this is a course revision, briefly describe the requested change: Most Practicum projects take more than one semester to complete. Per Graduate School policy, students must be registered at least in a one credit course during the semester they plan to graduate. Having the flexibility to register 1-3 credits in this course allows students to plan their graduation more efficiently. 8. Course credit: Lecture Hours Weekly OR Per Term Credit Hours s.h.
