Becoming “American”

Who is American? How have different groups of people become incorporated- or failed to
incorporate- into American politics and life over our country’s history? This presentation is
a collection of student research on the experiences, struggles and successes of different racial
and ethnic groups in the United States and their experiences in becoming “American.”
Our proposal is for a poster style presentation, with students preparing posters related to the
trajectory and experiences of different groups as they have become part of the American
political system.
