VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTION

Livestock Judging Coach

Purpose: To teach interested 4-H members the fundamentals of judging livestock and help them participate in various judging competitions.

Success Criteria:

Responsibilities:

Development and participation of a county Livestock Judging Team.

Monthly meetings with possibility of more sessions prior to a contest.

To assist in the development of a Livestock Judging Team.

• Recruit possible members

• Encourage younger 4-H members to begin participation

• Instruct members in the basics of judging

• Implement judging procedures with activities in addition to lectures

• To prepare members for competitions

• Keeping members informed of dates and events

• Attend and overseeing youth at competition locations

• Appraise and evaluate team performance

• Risk management plans are developed and implemented

Target Dates: County, regional, state Judging Contests

Resources Available: Support and assistance from parents

Support from Extension staff
