Directions: Andy went to New York to watch his favorite
baseball team, the Yankees. To get from LaGuardia Airport
to Yankee Stadium, Andy plans on using a taxi. He went
online and found the following pricing information:
$2.50 for the 1st 1/10th mile, 20 cents each additional mile
Andy wants to know how much it will cost to take the taxi.
-Note 1: He will also need to ride back to the airport after the game
-Note 2: How can you find the distance from LaGuardia to Yankee Stadium?
Produce a data table that shows the relationship between
distance (in miles) and the cost (in dollars) for a taxi ride.
Then use the data table to create a graph which displays the
cost.
Once you have your graph completed answer the following
questions:
-What does the slope equal? What does the slope represent?
-What is the y-intercept? What does it represent?
Using the above information, create a graph which displays:
$3.00 for the 1st 1/10th mile, 25 cents each additional mile
