Academic Standards Committee

1. AP request received.

Social Sciences Department approved the following AP request on 2/27/07

 ASC approved this request on 2/28/07

ASC is bringing forward this AP request for approval from AS.

POLS 101:

Students scoring a 3 on the AP Exam will be allowed 3 semester units equivalent to the POLS 101 course offered at COM. This score also satisfies CSU GE D-8 Political Science, Government and Legal Institutions requirement and U.S. and California State Constitution/Government requirement for graduation. The score will also satisfy a course in IGETC Area 4 Social and Behavioral Sciences.

ECON 101:

Students scoring a 3 on the ECON 1A Exam will be allowed 3 semester units equivalent to the ECON 101 course offered at COM. This score also satisfies CSU GE D-2 Economics and IGETC Area 4 Social and

Behavioral Sciences.

ECON 102:

Students scoring a 3 on the ECON 1B Exam will be allowed 3 semester units equivalent to the ECON 102 course offered at COM. This score also satisfies CSU GE D-2 Economics and IGETC Area 4 Social and

Behavioral Sciences.

Began discussion to revise policies in the Enrollment Services Policies & Procedures 04/05

Handbook. Focus was on Registration for Non-High School Graduates under 18 years of age not attending HS.

Sent a revised AP request for PSY 110 to Behavioral Sciences Dept Chair on 3/1/07. No response.

Petition Committee

No students.

Reviewed two student petitions: - Academic Renewal denied, did not meet criteria

- Request to Drop clear is pending instructor’s comments

Petition Sub-Committee

Committee members: ASC, Theo, Yolanda and/or Patrick.

Began discussion (one of many) to develop guidelines for restructuring the Petition Committee.
