Quantitative Methods in Management
Prerequisites
Graduate standing.
Description
An introduction to statistics as applied to business problems. The course is designed to develop
students’ ability to apply inferential statistical methods to decision making in business.
Objectives
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:

Compute probabilities for common discrete and continuous probability distributions.
Apply the various methods of sampling.
Apply statistical techniques for parameter estimation.
Apply statistical hypothesis-testing procedures to business data.
Analyze business data using statistical software.
Analyze results of statistical analyses and apply them to decision-making in business.
Apply quantitative-methods strategies to business objectives in an apt scenario.
Purpose
To develop improved decision-making skills by introducing the use of statistics as a tool for the
analysis of business data. MSM Applied Management concentration requirement. MSHRM
elective.
