 “The Weary Blues” by Langston Hughes (p. 410)

Your explication should not:

Include first-person or second-person pronouns (unless you are quoting a line)

Have grammatical or mechanical errors

Be researched. You are writing YOUR analysis of the poem. Remember that if Miss Hanson can upload a document to turnitin.com at any time. If I think you’ve researched your poem, I’m going to check it against other sources. The only part of your explication that you can research is a brief biography of the author(s).
