Cal State LA has selected two typefaces
for the University brand.
FUTURA
Futura is our primary headline font, meant
to grab attention in small bits of text. Two line
weights—Futura Bold and Futura Book/Regular—
are allowed for Cal State LA brand usage.
TISA
Tisa is our primary text font, for use in
all body copy, sub-headlines, dates and
addresses. Four line weights are allowed
for Cal State LA brand usage: Tisa
Regular, Regular Italic, Bold, and Bold
Italic.
If you are a staff or faculty member who
creates communication materials for
work, please contact the Office of
Communications and Public Affairs to
request the new fonts.

Accuracy in how we present information
about the University, such as the correct
names of buildings, spellings, dates, and
references to majors, colleges and
programs, helps build audience
recognition, understanding and clarity.
Therefore, writers and editors who
develop content for communication
materials should acquaint themselves
with the University Editorial Style Guide
for guidance in writing copy.
For style and grammar issues not covered
in the University Editorial Style Guide,
writers should default to The Associated
Press Stylebook, the style guide widely
used by journalists and mainstream
media. (Please note that this rule does not
apply to academic writing intended for
research and journals. Those writers
should default to the style guide approved
for their particular field of study).
