Minutes: Educational Foundations Department meeting
2/1/12--UC 268
Welcome 1:08 p.m.
In attendance: Anne Durst, Pam Clinkenbeard, Greg Valde, Eileen
Schroeder, Scott Peters, Amy Shuffelton, Beth King, Mark
Schroeder, Ellen Smith, Mark Jonas, Jenni Petersen, Melaine
Agnew, and Alicia Stone-Jackson as note taker
Approval of minutes (from 1/18/12) with correction minutes were
approved unanimously on an Amy Shuffelton motion and a Pam
Clinkenbeard second.
Announcements:



Room assignments: inform Alicia if you want a room with a Smartboard (ie.
3012)
Items to relate from 1/25 Administrative Council meeting

o PDP Reviewer training
o Tomorrow is the Gifted Education Program in the
University Center – Scott Peters and Pam Clinkenbeard
hosting
o Distance Ed Fees have a new form coming soon
o LIBMEDIA candidate will be coming either February
16 or February 22 more later on this
o Amy Shuffelton is leaving at the end of the semester
except for will teach the summer portfolio course
o Dine & Design – Supervision –Student
teaching/fieldwork –Full time focus on 1 district –
Praxis 2 – Leap goals vs. Standardized test scores
conflict. How are we working along with them? What is
the content in our classes? Are we networking with
schools?
Share practice (volunteer for next meeting?) Discusses what to do with
extra funds allotted to the department will give everyone a share
at the end of the year – will check into getting a water dispenser
with a hot water spigot.
Next meeting Scott Peters and Eileen Schroeder will show Web X
access.
New Business
 Policy for missing first class with hybrid courses Students must attend all
on campus meetings
 COEPS Strategic Priorities
 Review department goals for 2011-12 (attached) Annual report now due
on May 1st we will devote April meeting to working on the
department goals for next year and what we have completed
from this year’s goals
 Course evaluations—revise?
o Improvements to the online course/teacher evaluation
o Do we want to improve/revise the questions
o Peer Evaluations of the online courses – usually do a
peer evaluation at an on-campus meeting
Continuing Business
 Working groups: reports/updates Possible new work group –
Teacher/course evaluation Greg Valde, Mark Schroeder,
Jenni Petersen and Scott Peters
 Writing/critical thinking focus in Foundations courses
 Waiver/substitution form review/comments
o New forms have removed the information concerning
the 210 and 243 courses – that will be a separate form
