Discussion:
2
President Elliott informed the Senate that Vincent Chirico is the former Student Trustee, a
former Interdisciplinary Senator for the Student Government, and currently a student
worker in the Operations Office. Vince is very knowledgeable and has many great ideas.
Advisor Stewart introduced Annette Agness, Director of the MCC Association, Inc. and
explained that the Association manages the student life fees. The Board of Directors
makes policy for personnel and finances for the MCC Association. The President and
Speaker of the Brighton Student Government, by position, are members of the Board and
the President appoints 2 other students to sit on the Board. Vince is an excellent choice
for this very important seat; students have a very strong voice on the Board of Directors.
Advisor McCauley explained that the students who serve on Faculty Committees have a
tremendous voice if they show up and use it. A former Speaker of the Senate served on
the Curriculum Committee and made a difference in classes being taught.
A vote was taken.
Be it resolved, the Monroe Community College Brighton Campus Student
Government Association unanimously approves Vincent Chirico as a student member of
the MCC Association, Inc. Board of Directors.
V.
QUESTIONS & COMMENTS
Vice President Quider asked about overflow parking for the resident hall students. He explained that
there are 772 residents on campus and at times there aren’t any available parking spots for the students
who have R, S & T lot passes.
Annette Agness explained that there are currently 415 available parking spots in the resident lots; as of
Tuesday, September 11, 378 passes for those lots have been processed. As soon as #415 has been sold,
they will sell Lot E overflow passes. Visitors should be parking in Lot E, not in Lots R, S or T. She
will look into the parking problem and report back.
President Elliott thanked everyone for the awesome job with the 9/11 Ceremony. He also gave a
special thank you to Advisor Stewart for her help. He asked Annette Agness about the price increase
on items in the vending machines. Annette informed the Senate that the vending company must submit
a proposal for price increases; some of the increases were approved, but not all. She will verify that the
company is holding to what was submitted and will do a comparison with other area colleges.
