Memo 6
Eng 101
Format
Write a one page, memo. Follow the format you used for the first memo assignment.
Memos are single spaced, but there is one space added between paragraphs. They are written in 12 point, Times
New Roman Font. The margins of memos should be set at one inch.
Topic
Go back through your memos. What types of errors have you tended to make the most of? Why do you think you
make those particular kinds of errors? What strategies will you use to reduce the numbers of those kinds of
mistakes?
You May Not Write More than a Single Page
The memo assignment has a hard one page limit. There will be a one point subtraction for going over that limit.
However, when I say “one page,” I mean what I say. For every inch, measured from the bottom margin, that the
memo is short of a full page, there will be a one point subtraction
Errors
For each error of the following types, I will take off a point:
Run-on; Fragment; Comma Splice; Awkward Sentence; Spelling (this includes errors like writing a word like
“accept” where you meant to write “except”); Verb Error; Agreement.
If you don’t know what these terms mean, consult your A Writer’s Reference.
Content
This memo needs to focus on the topic requested. There will be a two point subtraction for not doing so.
Can You Revise the Memos?
Yes, three memos (with the exception of memo ten) can be revised, but only for errors. Keep the memos I pass back
to you. You must turn in the original memo along with the revised one to get credit.
Due Date
This assignment is due on Friday, May 7th by 11:59 p.m. as an email attachment. YOU MUST TURN IN YOUR
MEMO AT THAT TIME—LATE MEMOS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
Point Value: 5 (This memo can be revised for errors only)
To successfully complete this assignment, you must score a seven or higher.
