Work Worksheet
Work is defined as the force applied times the displacement of the object to which the
force was applied. Therefore, if there is no displacement, there was no work done. To
make things more complicated work is only done when the components of a force are
parallel to the displacement of the object. That means we might have to use a little
trigonometry. Remember SOHCAHTOA. Whew…
With that in mind, solve the following problems.
For numbers 1-4 simply say whether or not you are doing work.

10. You push on a couch at an angle of 45 degrees to the ground with a force of 7575
cN for .005 km.
