1. Do you really need an explanation for this one?
2. Calculate vertical leap by taking the difference between the jumpers standing reach and maximum jump
reach. Convert cm to m by dividing cm by 100.
3. Calculate hang time with the following formula: 2*(√((2*vertical leap)/acceleration of gravity)).
Vertical leap is in column 2, acceleration of gravity is 9.81 m/s/s.
4. Calculate estimated hang time using a stopwatch. Start the clock when the jumper’s feet leave the
ground and stop the clock when the jumper’s feet return to the ground.
5. Calculate percent error by the following formula: ((estimated hang time-calculated hang time)/calculated
hang time)*100
8. Observations-Make your own observations about your jumps, your vertical leap, and your hang time. Make
sure you record in bullet points or in a table.
9. Results (graph here) Click on insert, picture, and chart. Format the cells to reflect the above data. A
suggestion is to use a bar graph that compares hang time on the y-axis. Make sure to include all of your group
members. You can include the others in the data table, or not. Make sure that your graph makes sense and is
presented appropriately in terms of the lab questions.
10. Conclusion-FOLLOW THE RERUN FORMAT and address the questions. Go beyond the basics (they
jumped and came down). When you are finished, post your lab on your UNIT 2 webpage. Also, remember to
post your conclusion on nicenet. No paper needed!
