In this practical 1-hour workshop, supervisors will gain an understanding of their role and responsibility
in conducting an appraisal, prepare and plan for the appraisal process, and learn how to navigate the
online performance management system. This workshop is for new supervisors of University staff,
supervisors who would like a “refresher course” on the online system, and those supervisors who were
unable to attend performance management training in the last year.

The online performance management system is designed to be a communication and planning tool. How
can supervisors make the most of this opportunity to motivate and engage their staff? In this workshop,
supervisors will learn tips and techniques for giving productive feedback, both verbally and in writing.
You will leave with specific strategies to help meet even the stickiest feedback challenges. This
workshop is intended for both new and seasoned supervisors of University staff.

employee? How does it work? Get the answers to these questions and more in this 1-hour supervisor
workshop. Learn about the Performance Improvement Plan process, how it fits in the performance
management cycle, and strategies for implementation. This workshop is intended for supervisors of
University staff.

Performance appraisal meetings are right around the corner. Don’t just be a “receiver” of your
appraisal. Instead, learn about ways to be an active participant in this process. In this workshop, we will
cover how to explain your view of your performance through your self-appraisal, how to prepare for your
performance review meeting, and tips for receiving feedback. We will also discuss how to navigate any
potentially awkward moments. Whether you have received performance appraisals for years or are new
to the process, all are encouraged to join in the discussion. This workshop is intended for University
staff.
Navigating the Online Performance Management System
Wednesday, February 3, 1:00 – 2:00 pm, Mendel G88
In this hands-on workshop, staff will learn how to access and navigate the online Performance
Management System. We will cover the performance appraisal process and workflow, how to use the
Progress Notes feature, how to locate your previous year’s review, and more. Computers will be
available for you to follow along. This workshop is intended for new University staff and anyone who
would like a “refresher course” on the online system.
