Project Title: Cell Poems
Project Goal(s): Integrate poetry and art into science curriculum
Process and Steps:
1. This took place at the end of the science unit "structure of life"
1. Brainstormed terminology dealing with at least 3 different one-celled animals
1. Review a) similes, b) couplets, c) haiku
1. Draw cell and color any way child wants
1. Simile and couplet must wrap around cell. Haiku is placed in any corner. If simile or
couplet don’t go fully around cell, must do sentence again. This takes planning.
1. Go over words with fine tip marker.
Materials Needed:
1. Paper
1. Colored pencils
1. Fine Tip markers
