Procedure:
Anticipatory Set:
First, I will ask students our objective (question) : How does an octopus adapt to living in the ocean
environment? Being that we have learned many adaptation facts of the octopus the past two days,
students will share a fact. As students are sharing the fact I will uncover the fact and reread to
students. There are six facts students will be sharing
Body:
Then, I will show students my premade sentence and picture in relation to the octopus. After, I will
read my sentence and students will echo me. I will tell students to help me write my second sounds by
sounding out the letter of the words.
Closure:
Students will think, pair, share with a friend the two facts
Assessment:
Being that students will be learning facts about the octopus for the past two days, the
assessment will be the done on Thursday where students will share the facts they have
learned about octopus. As students are revealing the facts I will uncover the answers
from the chart. On Friday, for writers workshop we will briefly review the chart. The
assessment for Friday, is the sentence students will build from the facts the have
learned.
Accommodations/Modifications:
Justin and Dante will sit next to Mrs. Kiblin towards the back.
Sentence strips with our objective will be written for each table so that students can
visually see the question and use words provided in the sentence strip in their sentence.
