Dear Dan Liebel,
Amphenol Corporation is an electronics company that was founded in 1932 by entrepreneur
Arthur Schmitt. The current CEO of this company is Richard Adam Norwitt and Amphenol headquarters
located in Wallingford, Connecticut. Amphenol is one of the major producers of fiber optic connectors,
electronic, interconnect systems, antennas, and high speed specialty cable.
The company main products would be interconnect products and assemblies which hold 93% of
fiscal 2013 net sales. While only 7% of fiscal 2013 net sales belong to cable products and solutions. Some
of the key products connector and connector systems: fiber optic interconnects products, harsh
environment interconnect products, high speed interconnect products, and radio frequency
interconnect products and antennas. The company estimates that the worldwide sales of interconnect
products were approximately $50 billion in the year of 2013.
Amphenol strategy is to provide its customers the best design capabilities, a broad selection of
products with high level of service and quality while maintaining cost control and endless improvement.
The company use many business strategy such as pursue broad diversification, develop performanceenhancing interconnect solutions, and expand global presence.
Amphenol sells products to customers in diversified set of end market such as automotive,
broadband communications, commercial aerospace, industrial, information technology and data
communications, military, mobile devices, and mobile networks. Overall Amphenol does business in
many industries around the world. The company encounters competition in all areas of its business.
Competitors within the Interconnect Products and Assemblies segment are Molex, Yazaki, Foxconn, FCI,
JST, Delphi, Hirose, TE Connectivity and JAE. For Cable Products and Solutions segment, some of their
competitors are Commscope, among others. They also compete with a large number of smaller
companies who compete in a specific geographies, markets or products.
Amphenol is the third largest manufacturer of interconnect products in the world. The
expectations for the future of the company are to be a leading manufacturer. Amphenol never stop with
their research and development in order to keep up with the growing industry and still maintain it
quality. Amphenol want to expend it global presence, as of right now they have 60 locations around the
world. They will continue to establish low-cost manufacturing and assembly facilities in Americas,
Europe, Africa, and Asia.
