“Realm of the Strange” Short Story Assignment
Creative Writing
You will write a creative short story about a spooky, strange, mysterious, or scary occurrence. Use
all the brainstorming we have done to help you plan your story. I am looking for description (adjectives)
and specific details (action verbs). You may include dialogue in your story, but do make sure you
punctuate it correctly. If you have questions, ask. I want to see an interesting plot that is clearly written.
In other words, I should understand your story and be entertained. The short story must be at least 2
pages (front and back on one page) in length (7-10 words per line).
Remember, you must use the caption from the picture somewhere in your story. Please make sure
you underline this sentence, so that it is easy to identify. Also, make sure you use the title of the picture as
the title of your story.
If you type it, it must follow the typing guidelines on the website that we have gone over. If you do
not know how to do this, ask or just write it out. If you do not do it as required, I will not accept it, and you
will receive a late grade! No exceptions or excuses!!
This rubric must be stapled to the front of your story when you turn it in!
