IMPORTANT UP-TO-DATE REGISTRAR’S INFORMATION FROM THE CHHS ASSOCIATE DEAN, Professor Nancy Rabolt: Withdrawal Policy: After April 29 you may not withdraw from a class or the University, except in the case of a serious, documented illness or verified accident. The following reasons are not considered serious and compelling: Changing your major, poor performance, class not required for graduation/ major, or more time needed for other classes. If you wish to withdraw from class due to unexpected changes in your work schedule, illness or family emergencies, documentation will be required, along with a copy of unofficial transcripts. If you are requesting a withdrawal, bring your petition and appropriate documentation to your instructor during office hours for discussion. Deadlines for all registration procedures, including withdrawals and requests for credit/no credit, are listed in the class schedule and will be strictly adhered to by the instructor, the Department, and the Associate Dean of CHHS. The institute for Multicultural Research and Social Work Practice is pleased to announce and celebrate the publication of its first book, Diversity: Value, Promote, and Achieve. Everyone is invited to attend a special book program, featuring the book’s authors. The Department of General Services, Office of Risk and Insurance Management, will conduct two (2) sessions of three and a half hour class that reviews safe driving techniques through video, lecture, test, and personal experience to reduce number, severity, and cost of vehicle-related collisions. Date: Monday, June 6 Times: 8 am-11:30 am & 12:30 pm-4:00 pm Location: Facilities & Service Enterprises Training Room, Corporation Yard. The class fulfills the State of California driver training requirements. Participants receive a wallet-size card as proof of class completion. Classes begin promptly at the scheduled times, latecomers must reschedule. Participants will need to bring a pen or pencil and a valid California or other state driver’s license. Fees: There is no charge to State participants. The cost of the Defensive Driver Training Program is included in the State Motor Vehicle Self Insurance Program premiums for state departments (effective July 1, 1997). Cancellation Policy: Participants may cancel up to 7 days prior to class. Substitute participants on the day of the class are acceptable. The Institute has limited funds, but it wishes to encourage and support student in whatever way it can. We do not have sufficient funds to pay for individual projects, but we will try to put together workshops to help students learn how to produce and edit multicultural videos. We are interested in hearing from you. Let us know what types of training you need and want, or what types of services you are interested in. Based on input from interested students, we will hire someone to provide some training. All social work students are invited to participate. You may want to produce a multicultural video project for your final MSW culminating experience, or you may want to do something as a course assignment or for personal and professional interest.
