Prepare and maintain the storage area.
performance criteria
1.1
Storeroom and equipment are cleaned and sanitised in accordance with
hatchery procedures.
1.2
Storeroom equipment and machinery are checked for function, and faults are
identified and repaired or reported, in accordance with hatchery procedures.
1.3
Routine servicing, maintenance, and calibration of storeroom equipment and
machinery are carried out in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications.
1.4
Temperature and humidity controls are set to predetermined levels in
accordance with hatchery procedures.

Sanitise eggs.
performance criteria
2.1
Eggs are transferred to sanitising area without causing damage to eggs.
2.2
Sanitising chemicals are measured and mixed in accordance with
manufacturer’s specifications and legislative requirements.
2.3
Unused chemical is stored, and mixing equipment is cleaned or decontaminated
and stored, in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications and legislative
requirements.
2.4
Sanitiser is set up for operation, and is operated in accordance with
manufacturer’s specifications.
2.5
Sanitising chemicals are handled, and sanitiser is operated in a safe manner, in
accordance with legislative requirements.

Maintain storeroom environment, hygiene, and documentation.
performance criteria
3.1
Eggs are transferred to the storeroom and placed on the dolly without causing
damage to eggs.
3.2
Storeroom temperature and humidity levels are monitored, problems are
identified and reported, and adjustments are made, in accordance with hatchery
procedures.
3.3
Storeroom hygiene is maintained in accordance with hatchery procedures.
3.4
Storeroom records and documentation are maintained in accordance with
hatchery procedures.

Prepare eggs for setting.
performance criteria
4.1
Eggs for setting are identified and removed from the storeroom in accordance
with hatchery procedures.
4.2
Eggs are pre-warmed to the specified temperature in accordance with hatchery
procedures.
4.3
Eggs are handled and moved without causing damage to eggs.
4.4
Information is recorded in accordance with hatchery procedures.

Please Note
Providers must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority or a delegated interinstitutional body before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards
or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority before
they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
