Purpose
This unit standard is for people working in the carpet industry.
People credited with this unit standard are able to: receive
carpet into store from production or off-site; store carpet;
distribute carpet for cutting or despatch; and maintain storage
and despatch records.

Persons seeking credit for this unit standard need to
demonstrate competence in forklift operation.
Explanatory notes
1
Plant safety practices and procedures comply with Health and Safety in Employment
(HSE) Act 1992, and workplace procedures.

Workplace productivity and quality requirements are met.

It is recommended that persons seeking credit for this unit standard have already
completed Unit 7221, Roll and wrap carpet, or can demonstrate equivalent
knowledge and skills.

Evidence requirements
2.1
Carpet storage location is selected and location documented.
2.2
Carpet roll is handled without damage according to workplace safety
procedures.
Range
2.3
core intact, carpet not torn or punctured, wrapping undamaged,
identification clear and readable.
Carpet roll is stored safely according to workplace practice, and protected
against damage.
Range
protected from damage – fade, moisture, dirt and contamination.
Outcome 3
Distribute carpet for cutting or despatch.
Evidence requirements
3.1
Carpet roll identification conforms to work instruction.
3.2
Delivery instructions accompany rolls for despatch.
3.3
Carpet roll is moved safely to required location according to work instruction
and workplace practice.
3.4
Lifting and moving equipment is selected and used according to workplace
practice.
3.5
Carpet roll is moved without damage to carpet or workplace equipment.

Maintain storage and despatch records.
Evidence requirements
4.1
Storage records identify current location and record other information according
to workplace practice.
4.2
Despatch records identify despatch date, method, destination, and other
information according to workplace practice.

an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can
report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading
to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be granted consent to assess against standards by
NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
Providers and Industry Training Organisations, which have been granted consent and
which are assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that
applies to those standards.
