Performance criteria
2.1
Pre-raceday procedures are described in terms of the timing of tasks required to
be carried out.
Range
2.2
initial OB set-up, video and audio waylines check, commentator’s
position set-up and check, presenter’s position set-up and check,
fibre or satellite link check.
Raceday procedures are described in terms of the timing of tasks required to be
carried out.
Range
fibre or satellite link check, transmission control centre check
(TCC); timing cameras, video tape (VTs) and other vision sources;
master control (MCR); mix-minus; communication systems.

Element 3
Describe roles and functions of personnel involved in racing broadcasting production.
Performance criteria
3.1
Personnel involved in racing broadcasting production are described in terms of
title, level of responsibility, and role in the production process.
Range
studio personnel include but are not limited to – director, vision
switcher, sound operator, graphics operator, tape operator, CGI
operator, suite presenter, line producer;
OB team includes but is not limited to – director, vision control
(CCU) operator, sound operator, VT operator, judicial operator;
camera staff includes but is not limited to – side-on, presentation
area, return to scale, low down head on, start, judicial towers;
production associate, electronic news gathering (ENG)/field
operator; technical director, engineer;
raceday services staff includes but is not limited to – raceday
services manager, Jetbet van operators, on-course engineer.
Please note
Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated
authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against
unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register
credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this
standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The
AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations
wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for
tutors and assessors, and special resource requirements.
