Safety in Employment Act 1992; Resource Management Act 1991; Transport

(Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990.

2 Workplace procedures are all authorised instructions, processes and work practices carried out in the workshop.

Manufacturer’s specifications are the specifications of the manufacturer and/or the supplier of the adhesive product.

4 Adhesives refer to both flammable and non-flammable types.

Evidence requirements

1.1 Flammable adhesives are described in terms of their chemical properties, 'open time,' and 'tack time'.

1.2 Flammable adhesives are described in terms of their flashpoints.

‘open time,’ and ‘tack time’.

Demonstrate knowledge of the selection of adhesives for vehicle body manufacturing requirements.

Evidence requirements

2.1 The adhesives application requirements are identified according to the manufacturers’ specifications.

2.2 The adhesive manufacturer’s recommendations relating to operating conditions and ranges are identified according to manufacturer’s specifications.

Outcome 3 temperature, relative humidity.

Demonstrate knowledge of the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for adhesives.

Evidence requirements

3.1 The explanation includes the information on the toxicity and flammability of the product in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.

3.2 The explanation includes the instructions for the safe handling of the product in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.

Range personal safety equipment, first aid measures for each product, shelf life, disposal of product.

Providers must be granted consent to assess against standards (accredited) by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.

Industry Training Organisations must be granted consent to assess against standards by

NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.

Providers and Industry Training Organisations, which have been granted consent and which are assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
