Purpose
This unit standard is for people who currently are, or will be, supporting an
existing telecommunications system or designing a support system for future
use.
People assessed as competent in this unit standard are able to design and
maintain a computer based telecommunications support system that
monitors, records, and stores operational data.

Performance criteria
1.1
All identified operational requirements for the telecommunications support
system are satisfied in the design specification.

The agreed integration is achieved between the telecommunications support
system and relevant existing systems.

All authorised personnel are consulted on support system design prior to
submission of final design specification.

Performance criteria
2.1
The telecommunication support system is maintained within the agreed
specification by authorised personnel.

Information provided by the telecommunications support system is accurate,
current, complete, and available to authorised personnel.

2.3
In the event of system failure, all affected parties are notified in the agreed
format, within the agreed time, and disruption to remaining operations is
minimised.

2.4
Performance of telecommunications support system is restored with minimum
downtime and disruption to other personnel and systems, and affected parties
are notified of restoration on completion.
2.5
Identified improvements to the telecommunications support system are
submitted to authorised personnel in a format that meets the requirements of
the end-user.

Please note
Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated
authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against
unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register
credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this
standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The
AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations
wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for
tutors and assessors, and special resource requirements.
