Purpose
People credited with this unit standard are be able to explain
quality management processes and the contribution of the
individual to the maintenance of quality standards in the dairy
industry, and explain the maintenance of quality standards in
the individual’s workplace.

Explanatory notes
1
Organisational requirements refers to instructions to staff on policy and procedures
which are documented in memo or manual format and are available in the workplace.
These requirements include but are not limited to – site specific requirements,
company quality management requirements, supplier supplied material safety data
sheets, codes of practice, manufacturer’s specifications, and legislative
requirements.

Quality management requirements includes but is not limited to compliance with the
ISO 9000 series standards.

Aspects of a quality management system are explained in terms of purpose and
application.

specifications, documentation of procedures, critical control points,
traceability, non-conformance control.
The individual’s position in the supplier to customer chain is identified and a
minimum of three contributions made by the individual to maintenance of quality
standards are identified.

Evidence requirements
2.1
Quality responsibilities of the individual’s position are explained in relation to the
needs of the “next-in-line” customer.

Quality checks are explained in relation to organisational requirements.

before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses
of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be granted consent to assess against standards by
NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
Providers and Industry Training Organisations, which have been granted consent and
which are assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that
applies to those standards.
Requirements for consent to assess and an outline of the moderation system that applies
to this standard are outlined in the Consent and Moderation Requirements (CMR). The
