are not limited to – fabrication of metal modules for large boats, construction of plugs
or moulds, manufacture and/or installation of systems, construction of large interior
modules, laying of a teak deck.

Definitions
Company procedures – documented or accepted procedures in the workplace where
the unit standard is being assessed.
Job requirements – requirements that may or may not be specified but require
correct choices to achieve including: following safety and workplace procedures and
meeting generally accepted trade practice standards.

All work practices must meet recognised codes of practice and documented worksite
health and safety procedures (where these exceed code) for personal, product, and
worksite health and safety, and must meet the obligations required under the Health
and Safety in Employment (HSE) Act 1992, and subsequent and delegated
legislation.
Elements and performance criteria
Element 1
Plan and communicate a work schedule for a boat module to a team.
Performance criteria
1.1
Work schedule is developed in accordance with boat module specifications and
available resources.
1.2
Schedule is clearly communicated to the boatbuilding team in terms of the
tasks, roles and input required from team members.
Range
1.3
may include – written plan, verbal plan, chart.
Quality of work and expectations of work standard are explained to team
members in accordance with boat specifications and schedule.
Element 2
Determine datums and communicate the alignment process for a boat module.
Range
datums may include but are not limited to – centrelines, keel datum, longitudinal
datum, vertical datum.
Performance criteria
2.1
Module alignment datums are determined and formalised in accordance with
job requirements.
2.2
Alignment process for joining module to the vessel is determined. The process
is communicated to the relevant team members to enable correct construction
and future alignment of the module to the vessel.

Element 3
Supervise and lead a team to complete boat module construction.
Range
for the schedule and alignment process prepared in elements 1 and 2.
Performance criteria
3.1
Boat module construction work is supervised and led to completion so that it
meets technical specifications and work schedule.
3.2
Any non-conformance with boat module construction work specifications is
identified and remedied in accordance with job requirements.
Range
3.3
may include but is not limited to – instructing staff to remedy
mistakes or inaccuracies.
Any non-conformance with boat module construction work schedule is identified
and remedied in accordance with job requirements.
Range
may include but is not limited to – revising schedule, adjusting
human resource input.
3.4
Health and safety aspects of the boat module construction work job are
monitored in accordance with company procedures.
3.5
Any team member behaviour issues are dealt with in accordance with company
procedures.

may include but is not limited to – referral to higher manager,
issuing warnings, alerting team member to issue.
Trainee team members are coached to maintain or improve performance in
accordance with workplace performance expectations and trainee capability.
Please note
Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated
authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against
unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register
credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this
standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The
AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations
wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for
