DISCOURSE STRATEGIES, Part I

Duration: This course is held twice a week for 12 weeks. (Please check posted schedules for dates and time.)

Description: This course focuses on the fundamental grammar, pronunciation, and common expressions that are essential for effective formal communication. Participants learn both language and strategies for more effective communication in meetings, presentations, and formal social gatherings.

Objectives: This course will provide participants with the opportunity to:

Assess their audience and formulate their style of speech accordingly

Utilise specific strategies for the acceptable delivery of a message

Choose from a wider range of appropriate vocabulary and expressions

Execute effective functions of language such as opening a talk,

making a point, agreeing, disagreeing, and expressing an opinion

Develop their overall speaking skills via various class activities and discussions

Interact confidently with native speakers in English.
