Gary S. Buckley Biography I am a Professor of Physical Sciences at Cameron University in Lawton, OK. My primary responsibilities are in the area of chemistry with physical chemistry as my specialty. I am on occasion called to teach general physics courses as well as general chemistry, descriptive chemistry, general physical science, and physical chemistry. On rare occasions I have been placed in math remediation courses. I earned the Ph.D. in physical chemistry and M.S. from Texas A&M University with my B.S. in chemistry with biology and math minors from Northern Illinois University. Upon completion of the M.S. degree I spent two years at Cameron University as a tutorial instructor. Upon returning to A&M and completing the Ph.D. I went to work for Dow Chemical Company in Freeport, TX for four years. Feeling the teaching bug again, I returned to Cameron in 1986. My research interests are in the area of materials science, particularly the characterization and modification of plastic and rubber materials. A significant portion of this work is completed during the summers at the Naval Research Lab in Washington, DC. From an activity standpoint, I am also responsible for compiling and publishing our General Chemistry I and II lab books each semester. In my spare time I like to play basketball, racquetball, and also play the trombone. As a matter of fact, because I will be attending the General Chemistry Symposium, I will miss our spring Community Band concert on February 27.
