DREAMS

Narrative Essay
I’ve had a lot of weird dreams in my day. I’ve been having dreams since I can
remember. That’s not very long ago though. I’ve had sad dreams, happy dreams, and of
course scary dreams. I’ll tell about the most memorable dreams I’ve ever had.
First off, when I was about twelve years old I really wanted to be a cowboy. Not
just any cowboy, the best bull rider in the world. I had potential I was a good sized kid I
had a hat, boots, belt buckle everything. So anyway I went to sleep with my rope like I
always did and I started to have this vision of me at the NFR(National Finals Rodeo)
riding a big black brahma in front of thousands of people. I rode that bull with all my
might and I stayed on for the full 8. People were cheering like crazy and I got off and
threw my hat up in the air and won the title away from Tuff Hedeman. It was one of the
greatest nights of my life.
My second most memorable dream was when I was about 15 and it was probably
was the worst. There were six of us in a little Dodge Omni. It was a very tight fit, and
everyone was getting crabby. Well we were stuck in this traffic jam for about 3 ½ hours.
Finally my dad got upset and he started to drive around the cars. All of the sudden there
was a big semi barreling towards our little car. My dad tried to get to the other side of the
road, but it was too late. The semi hit our car head on and compacted it into a little metal
square. Every one of my family members except for me died instantly. I watched the
paramedics drag each one of my family members from the car as I sat on the curb in
despair. It was the most awful dream of my whole entire life and I will never forget it.
My third most memorable dream was my scariest. I was 18 years old at the time
of this dream. It started out with my girlfriend, my little brother, and me in a big
mansion. We were very scared for some reason, and we were packing our luggage. All
of a sudden the lights went out. We almost soiled our underwear we were so scared.
Then at the end of the hallway we saw a bright light. We decided to make a run for it.
So on the count of three we went for it. I followed the two and when we got to the light
Michelle told me she forgot her bag. So I told them to shut off the light and when they
heard me yell to turn it back on. So I took off running through the dark hallway and as I
was in mid-stride I felt my body get jerked back. At first I thought I caught it on a hook
but when I turned around to unhook myself I saw a ghost with my shirt in his hand.
Right then I woke up almost in tears. I went into my mom’s room and slept with her for
the rest of the night. I have never been so scared in all of my life.
My fourth most memorable dream happened the night of my sixteenth birthday. I
got a new 20 gauge shotgun from my dad. So there we were, my dad, uncle, brother-inlaw, and me, heading out to the lake to shot some ducks. So we set up all the decoys and
sat down in the rushes. We were there for awhile and we were all getting restless.
Finally, after a long wait the ducks started flying. We bagged our limit really quick. We
each had a load of mallards, canvasbacks, and teal. Well the ducks kept flying so we just
kept on shooting. So after a little while longer we each had a garbage bag full of ducks.
We decided to call it a day after that. On the way back to the car here comes the game
warden. He wasn’t too happy. He counted the ducks and then he took our car, shotguns,
and all of our decoys. We had a court date the next week. The judge was pretty stiff and
he gave us each a $2000 fine and our licsences were suspended for five months. After
that I woke up. I’ve never shot over my limit since then.
My last most memorable dream was when I was about 17. My little brother and I
were home alone and we were cooking a pizza. I knew how to cook a pizza but in the
dream I had no idea. After a couple of hours in the stove I thought maybe it was done.
So I came in from outside and there was nothing but smoke. As I fought my way through
the thick haze I heard my little brother screaming. I found him in the living room and he
was covered with a blanket, so I grabbed him and threw him over my shoulder. As I has
running out of the house I heard a large crackling sound and as I looked up I saw a big
board coming right for me. Right as the board made impact I woke up in a cold sweat. It
was a very scary dream and I will never forget it.
Although I’ve had many dreams in my day the ones that I talked about in this
story are the ones that I will always remember, unlike most dreams which are forgotten
by the next morning. If a dream is scary enough or happy enough you will remember it
forever. Some dreams will even help you learn things. So next time you have a dream
learn from it.
