What are we learning?
Daily Objective: Students will be able to distinguish primary succession from secondary
succession and predict the ecological outcomes of various external influences.

succession can change populations and species diversity.

Learning Activities: Guided notes, Online polls, quizzes and writing assignment using
nearpod.

and ecosystems.

commensalism, mutualism, and competition among organisms.
11C: Summarize the role of microorganisms in both maintaining and disrupting the health of
both organisms and ecosystems.
How will we learn it?
Students will be given situation cards and must correctly determine the relationships
between organisms. Guided notes will be filled in by students.

health and will be able to describe how energy flows through trophic levels.
TEKS/AP/Standards: 11C: Summarize the role of microorganisms in both maintaining and
disrupting the health of both organisms and ecosystems.
12C: Analyze the flow of energy and matter through trophic levels using various models
including food chains, food webs, and ecological pyramids.
How will we learn it?
Learning Activities: Guided notes, independent reading, creating a food web. Students will
analyze different food chains and food webs. Students will be introduced to the 10% rule
and will apply it to their food chain. Students will also identify organisms in their food chains
who are autotrophs, heterotrophs, and the different levels of consumers.
How will we tell if we’re learning it correctly?
Assessment Methods: Online quizzes using nearpod. Finished food web.
