Objective: SWBAT graph quadratics in standard form and identify axis of symmetry, xintercepts, y-intercept, vertex, minimum or maximum.
Activities: Warm Up: Solve by factoring.
Notes: Graphing Quadratics from Standard form. Go over vocabulary such as axis of
symmetery, vertex, minimum and maximum, x-intercepts and y-intercept. Demonstrate axis
of symmetry formula and how to factor to go from standard form to intercept form.
Guided Practice: Students practice problems with a partner or group on graphing quadratics
from standard form and identifying axis of symmetry, x-intercepts, y-intercept, minimum or
maximum, and vertex.
Independent Practice: Handout 4.1 # 1 – 10.
Assessment: Exit Ticket
Materials: Spiral notes, Handout 4.1
Follow Up/HW: Finish Handout 4.1
Objective: SWBAT graph quadratics in vertex form and identify axis of symmetry, xintercepts, y-intercept, vertex, minimum or maximum.
Activities: Warm Up: graphing quadratics in standard form and identifying axis of symmetry,
vertex, x-intercepts, y-intercept, minimum or maximum.
Notes 4.2: Demonstrate how to graph a quadratic function in vertex form. Go over all
vocabulary words such as vertex, x-intercepts, axis of symmetry, y-intercept, minimum and
maximum.
Guided Practice: Graphing quadratics in vertex form and identify axis of symmetry, xintercepts, y-intercept, vertex, minimum or maximum.
Independent Practice: Handout 4.2
Materials: graphing handout, spiral notes.
Follow Up/HW: Finish handout 4.2
Objective: SWBAT graph quadratics in vertex form and identify axis of symmetry, xintercepts, y-intercept, vertex, minimum or maximum. SWBAT factor ax2+bx + c = 0.
SWBAT transform from vertex form to standard form.
Activities: Warm Up: Graphing quadratics in vertex form and identifying the vertex, xintercepts, axis of symmetry, minimum or maximum.
Notes: Factoring ax2+bx + c = 0. Demonstrate how to factor a quadratic with a coefficient in
front of the a.
Guided Practice: Students work on factoring with a partner.
Notes: Demonstrate how to go from vertex form to standard form.
Guided Practice: Students work on going from vertex form to standards form.
Independent Practice: Handout 4.2/4.3: Vertex to standard form & factoring
Materials: spiral notes, Handout 4.2 & 4.3
Follow Up/HW: Finish Handout 4.2 & 4.3

Go over H.W. Handout 4.2
Notes: 4.2 intercept form: Demonstrate how to graph a quadratic from intercept form. Show
how to get the vertex, x-intercepts, y-intercept, axis of symmetry, and minimum or maximum.
Guided Practice: Students graph a quadratic from intercept form and find the vertex, axis of
symmetry, x-intercepts, y-intercept, minimum or maximum.
Notes 4.2: Show how to go from intercept form to standard form.
Guided Practice: Students go from intercept form to standard form.
