Dear Vice Chancellor Hershenson:
I am pleased to announce the most recent faculty award for Hunter College.
Michael Gitlin, an Assistant Professor of Film and Media at
Hunter College, has been awarded a 2006 Fellowship from the
John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation for exceptional
achievement in film and video. Since 1925 the John Simon
Guggenheim Memorial Foundation has annually offered
Fellowships to artists, scholars, and scientists in all fields. This
year 187 United States and Canadian Fellows were chosen from
2,887 applicants for awards totaling $7,500,000. Guggenheim
Fellows are appointed on the basis of unusually impressive
achievement in the past and exceptional promise for future
accomplishment.
I am extremely proud of this award achieved by Professor Gitlin. I would appreciate
your assistance in announcing this outstanding achievement at the next Board of Trustees
meeting. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Jennifer J. Raab
