THINKING ABOUT ASSESSMENT
Questions to guide your work:
o How much “weight” is given to your summative (tests, final exams,
performance, presentation, essay, oral exam) assessments?
o Approximately how many summative assessments are in a semester?
Are they distributed throughout the grading period?
o For each summative, what formative pieces are in place? How much
weight is given to the formative work?
o What will you assess for at the very beginning of the year? How will you
know where your students started?
