Usage Guidelines for the Montgomery County Master Gardeners Email Listserv
Our Listserv is for gardening, horticultural, and environmental topics relevant to the mission of
Montgomery County Master Gardeners (MGs) which includes our own education and gardening
activities. Educational posts should be from research-based sources with sources clearly cited.
Appropriate posts include, but are not limited to, MG meetings, announcements, volunteer
opportunities and communications, scheduled events, items for giveaway, plant sales, other
sales or sale items if you think MGs would benefit (remember we do not endorse any company
holding an event), questions (asking and answering on MG-related topics), and job openings for
garden related employment. Inappropriate posts include, but are not limited to, illegal activities,
advertisements of your own or any other company or service, proprietary information, and
personal information of others without their permission.
There are varied and sometimes conflicting views on current gardening issues. Please maintain
an attitude of civility and respect. When someone makes a mistake be kind about it. If you do
decide to inform someone of a mistake, point it out politely, and preferably by private email
rather than in public.
It is helpful if you sign your messages with your first and last name at the end of all your posts,
especially if your name isn't clear from your email address.
Please do not Reply to All on messages to the Listserv if your response is directed to the
individual who posted the item.
