Notes:
This is a famous red-dwarf pair. The total mass is only 40% of the sun. There are
also many very faint and distant companions, beyond an 8" scope.
The diameter of A is 0.34 solar diameters; B is 0.19.
The AB orbital period is 44.7 years (Lippincott, 1953), semi-major axis of 2.38",
motion retrograde.
B is the flare star DO Cep, which is fairly active with flares of small to moderate
amplitudes.

Note the wide 7.7/8.8m double (SAO 34785 and 34786) 7 min WSW of here, and
6.5m SAO 34761 18 min W.

Notes:
It is only 4 million years old. May be part of the Cep OB1 association. Its earliest
stars are hot, young O6 and O9 stars; 125 stars belong to this group.
It lies 32,000 light years from the galaxy's center and 150 light years below its plane.
Observations:
C8 at 65x. Sparse and round, use averted vision.
There is nebulosity in this cluster, but I did not detect it with the C8.
