

Getting large complex projects to deliver continues to be a problem for both the public
and private sectors – this session looks at some of the underlying causes and why
conventional project management approaches fail to handle complexity and
uncertainty
Conventional and systemic approaches use different paradigms to manage complexity
and uncertainty – we’ll look at how and where each paradigm can be effective and the
limits of effectiveness of each – including the limitations of both PRINCE and Agile
We’ll then map out an alternative approach to managing complex projects built from a
set of well proven systemic tools and how these can be integrated into a complex
project management approach
