Course Description
Textbook
After studying this semester the student should be do the following.
1. Recognize common dysrhythmias associated with cardiac
conduction system as obtained from electrocardiogram or
electrocardiographic.
2. Describe treatment for patients with cardiac dysrhythmias.
3. Plan nursing interventions for patients requiring pacemakers.
4. Explain medical and nursing management for angina pectoris and
myocardial infarction.
5. Describe cardiac rehabilitation after myocardial infarction.
6. Differentiate among the different inflammatory and valvular
heart diseases.
7. Explain the pathophysiology and medical and nursing
management of inflammatory heart disease, valvular heart
diseases and congestive heart failure.
8. Plan care for a patient with congestive heart failure.
9. Describe preoperative and operative nursing care for the person
undergoing cardiovascular surgery.
To help the student to learn the structure and function of the heart
and heart disease that effect the adult person and their nursing
intervention.
