DUNST
Jesus,
you said that it is by our love that we are
known to be your followers.
Give me the courage to accept your call to
love one another, as you love me.
Allow me to understand that to be of service,
to give myself to others,
I must first know and love you.
Help me to share in your self-sacrificing
love.
May I understand your call to live in love, so
that I can live in you, and do God’s will.
We ask this with joy and gratitude,
Amen.
Tentative Placements for September 2014
We will soon begin our planning for next September. This will include having staff meet to discuss the
appropriate placement for your child. As you know your child(ren) best, we appreciate your input
considering special needs for your child(ren)’s placement. Parents/guardians are asked to include in
your request the strengths and needs of your child along with a description of his/her type of
learning environment in which your child has experienced the most success. This is not intended to
arrange for a certain teacher or to avoid necessary combined grades.
WITH REGRET, REQUESTS FOR A PARTICULAR TEACHER WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
When we meet, we will consider all educational matters and if we can accommodate your wishes, we
will do so. Rest assured that we will take into account the consideration of student learning styles,
teacher instructional style and desirable and undesirable student combinations.
Your request to the attention of Mr. O’Neill will form part of our deliberation. This request must be
received no later than Friday, May 2, 2014 to be taken into consideration.
Please note: All staffing and class placements are tentative until the September enrolment is finalized.
Once again we will be experiencing a decrease in enrolment for September. This will result in a loss of
teaching staff and an increase in combined grades.
Are You Moving?
To help us with our planning for September 2014, it would be appreciated if you could let us know if
you will be moving out of our school area over the summer.

Serving In The Love Of Christ
Catholic schools are Catholic
communities. Catholic schools are faith
communities. We – parents, students,
teachers, administrative and support
staff – walk and grow together in the
faith which we received at our Baptism.
And it is ‘together’ that we grow. Our
growth is primarily a relationship with
God, who at our Baptism, called us by
name. But the response of each of us to
that growth is both personal and
communal. We grow in our faith in the
nurturing atmosphere of our Catholic
community be that of our local parish,
our home, or our Catholic school
community. This year’s five sub-themes,
one for each of the five days of Catholic
Education Week, help students to
understand the rich meaning of this
year’s theme:
Monday: Serve with faithfulness
Tuesday: Serve with humility
Wednesday: Serve with compassion
Thursday: Serve with justice
Friday: Serve with joy
Catholic Education Week begins on a
Sunday to highlight the partnership
that remains the foundation of
Catholic education between our
Catholic schools and local Catholic
parishes. Throughout Catholic
Education Week, we ask you to reflect
on the significance of Catholic
education’s presence and contribution
in our Church, and in our society. We
hope to see you during our school
events. The calendar of our school
events will come home under separate
cover.

Dear Families:
As we continue on our journey during this Lenten season, we are reminded of the
tremendous sacrifice endured by our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
For the past several weeks, we have been immersed in the true spirit of Lent through
prayer and fasting and by entering into acts of support for others. Our students have
participated in various Liturgical events, organized by the school, that give witness to our
faith in action. It is by these very acts of selflessness and by supporting others that we are
able to experience the full story of Jesus’ Passion and death and the ultimate joy of the
resurrection.
As we journey on toward that most glorious of feast days within our faith, I wish you and
your family all the spiritual fulfillment and joy the season brings. Thank you for working
with all members of our school community to support and protect the gift of Catholic
Education.
I look forward to continuing to work with you as we strive to provide your child with a
Catholic Education steeped in the tradition of excellence that is a Dufferin-Peel hallmark.
School Council News
School Council is beginning their Easter Chocolate
Fundraiser. The goal for this year’s fundraiser is to
raise money for the purchase of a SMART Board for
one of our classrooms. There will be a kick off
assembly on April 9th and chocolates will be sent
home on this date. All students are asked to return
their money and/or chocolates by April 23rd.
EQAO Testing
The EQAO (Education Quality and Accountability
Office) testing of our Grade 3 and Grade 6
students will take place from May 27th to June
6th. Please try to avoid scheduling any doctor’s
appointments or anything else that will take your
child out of school during the testing dates. Tests
and materials cannot be given out to parents
prior to or during the testing. A letter to grade 3
and 6 parents with further information will be
sent home closer to the testing dates.
Our next School Council meeting will be held on
Wednesday, April 30th at 6:30 pm in the library. All
parents are welcome to attend.
Dress Code
With the approach of the warm weather we would
like our students to be neat and comfortable for
learning. Students are expected to dress in a
manner and attire suitable for the occasion and
appropriate to the school environment. Boys must
wear full length T-shirts with a sleeve (no muscle
shirts or cut off T-shirts are allowed for regular
classes or Phys Ed). Girls are not to wear anything
strapless, spaghetti straps or have bare midriffs.
Shorts are allowed provided they are modest. No
short-shorts or cut-off jeans will be allowed.
Lost And Found
We have a large amount of clothing in our lost
and found. Please encourage your children to
look through the clothing to find any articles of
lost clothing. Any unclaimed clothing will be
donated to charity by April 17th.
Easter Liturgy
Our Easter Liturgy will be celebrated on
Thursday, April 17th at 9:00 am. The students in
the Intermediate Division will be leading our
celebration. All members of our community are
invited to attend.
PEDICULOSIS
We have begun to see more cases of head lice (Pediculosis) in our school. This is a problem which
occurs from time to time in each school. Unfortunately, in recent years, head lice have become
increasingly common throughout North America. They are parasites which have been common
among human beings for centuries. They are not connected in any way to dirt or neglect. Anyone
can be infested. In order to control these pests, we shall follow these procedures and request
your full co-operation. If cases are found in the classroom, we shall inform parents. We would
request that you check your own children and if you find them to be infested, we would ask that
you inform the school, and you contact the Peel Public Health Department for treatment
information. If your children do become infested by head lice, we will ask you to keep them out of
the school until after they have been treated with the correct shampoo and their hair is entirely
clear of both lice and nits (eggs). Students will not be permitted to return to class until they have
been checked by the office. If we all co-operate in these procedures, we may not entirely escape
outbreaks, but we will be able to bring them under control quickly. For additional information,
guidance and any questions please contact Peel Public Health Department at 905.799.7700. As
well you may find the following website useful www.headlice.org. bring them under control
quickly.
