A Peek at our Week
December
18, 2015
Reading: We compared a variety of
gingerbread stories and looked at the
characters, the plot, how each story ended,
and where each story took place. The kid’s
got to choose their favorite one and write
about it.
Phonics: (A-Z, or, ar, ur, ir, er, ch, sh, th,
wh, ing, ed, ai, ee, ie, oa, ue, ou, ow, oy, oi,
oo) We have been working hard on
identifying those tricky vowel sounds. We
also learned the rule—when two vowels go
walking, the first one does the talking.
We sorted rhyming words and syllables to
get extra practice with those skill.s
Math: We worked a lot more with teen
numbers by using ten frames and
connecting cubes to represent those
numbers. We have been really gaining an
understanding that teen numbers mean a
group of ten and some ones.
. Please play the math game throughout
the week and sign and return the bottom
portion on Friday in their purple folders.
