Literacy - We are continuing our Nonfiction unit of study.

Social Studies – We are learning about life in the young United States of America and are specifically
looking at the Constitution and the Bill of Rights

Earth Science – Our second trimester unit is Physical Science which we will begin after break
Math – We have been taking the Cogat math test that the District utilizes for middle school math placement.
Next week, we will be focusing on solving word problems.
Miscellaneous

One School, One Book - There will be a kick off assembly on Jan 5 ! Each family will receive a copy of our
school read aloud to read together during the month of January.

In-school field trip - January 11, 2016 - The Lake County Forest Preserve will be coming to present the Birds
of Prey program. This ties in with our non-fiction mentor text, Arrowhawk, our birding unit that we study at
th
Lorado Taft and our Life Science unit.
