Prayer for November
Loving Father,
Have mercy on your people,
And open our hearts to peace and love.
Reward all who have died for their country,
And grant that Canada and all Nations
may continue to work
For Peace and Justice.
Bless us in your service
And help us to follow Jesus Christ
Who is our savior and Lord
For ever and ever
AMEN.
Admin’s Message
November is a busy time at St.
Joseph School.
Our annual Chocolate Fundraiser
was a huge success - we are still
tallying our final counts but all of
this helps with our fundraising efforts which are itemized later in
our newsletter.
Our Hallowe’en Dance was fantastic fun complete with a DJ. The
costumes were imaginative and fun
- see inside for pics!
Our staff dressed as “StoryBook
Characters” as our theme. We had
everything from “Pink and Purplicious” to “The Cat in the Hat”
Yours truly was “Pippi Longstocking” - I must be really old - it was
shocking how many children had
no idea who “Pippi” was!!!
Our teachers are planning “An
Evening With Santa” for December -
save the date the evening of Wednesday,
December 9th. Its going to be FUN!!
St. Joseph EQAO scores will be published soon - look in the next newsletter
for results.
We celebrated “All Saints” day recently
and November is a time to remember all
that have passed away. If you would like
us to pray for someone special we are
happy to pray for them on announcements each day. Just send a note in with
your child’s agenda and we will put them
on the roster.
Our Movie Nite was a fantastic community event. Everyone enjoyed Pizza and
Chips while watching the “Minions Movie”. Such fun.
Our Community Officer - Officer Bill
has come to talk to our students about
safety, community news, youth and the
law and awareness of rules around social
media. He also goes out to recess with
our kids and they love practicing being a
police officer.
Progress Reports go home Tuesday,
November 17th- so be on the
look out!
Finally, in November its always
good to remember those who
fought and continue to fight for
our freedom in Canada. A reminder that our Remembrance Day
Liturgy will take place Tuesday,
November 11at 10:30 a.m. Please
join us in the gym if you are able.
Lastly, we have been experiencing
some unseasonably warm weather
but it wouldn’t be out of the question to see snow soon - so lets be
prepared when it does! It is November after all.
Thanks to everyone for making
our school a special place to be
each day!
God Bless!

Virtue of the Month: Conscience
This month we will focus on the virtue of conscience.
God gave us the ability to know the right and decent way
to act and then to act that way. We trust that the common
Spirit we share inspires us and guides us to make good
decisions if we allow our conscience to be well-formed.
A person of conscience:

Chooses the “right thing” and feels good about it

Can see how his/her actions may hurt others

Admits her/his wrong-doing and feels badly

Keeps promises
Come out and join us at our next School Advisory Council

Fundraising Efforts at St. Joseph
We do appreciate all that our parents/guardians and especially our
School Advisory Council do in our fundraising efforts. Many of you may
be asking - What do they spend all the money on?
Here is a comprehensive list of all of the items the money will go to buy:
Team Jerseys, school beautification, participation in Streetsville events
i.e.(Santa Claus Parade, Bread and Honey Festival and Remembrance
Day etc), Graduation (SK and Grade 8), awards for students, prizes for
competitions and fundraising, assemblies, visitors and presentations for
our school, props for plays and presentations, outdoor playground
equipment, school trip augmentation, Sacraments, Playground updates,
Equipment for Kindergarten, Peace Garden, garden for our new Kindergarten classroom, busses for events
and trips, taxi’s for extra curriucular participation, updating Tech equipment and adding to our technology
grid (iPads, SMARTBoards), sporting events and academic competitions.
Our goal at St. Joseph is that all the money from fundraising activities goes directly back to our students in
some form or another. St. Joseph is a very special place and we offer a tremendous amount of extra curricular programs for students. These programs do require outside revenues to support them.
We do appreciate the support of all of our fundraising efforts. Please know that the fundraising we do in
some form or another directly enhances your child(ren)’s experience at our school. We are grateful for the
support from our parents and guardians that allow our students to participate in so many events and enhance the life of our school.

Library Learning Commons News
It has been busy in the LLC. Primary students have been focusing on
“Digital Citizenship” and what it means to be a good citizen when using
technology. We are learning how to research our inquiry questions using
the IPad’s. The students are really enjoying having another means of technology to com-
plete assignments.
The library is fully operational and students have been signing out books for both reading for pleasure and for their research. This past week, I had the pleasure of going book
buying for our library and I came back with lots of new titles for every division to enjoy!

Youth Faith Ambassadors’ Program:
Under the leadership of Mme Da Silva, Mrs. Guerrizio and Mrs. Pelaccia we are
happy to offer our intermediate students a Youth Faith Ambassadors’ Program.
The purpose of this program is to encourage our students to continue to honour
Jesus’ teachings through service to our school community.
The role of the Youth Ambassadors for Christ is to:

Contribute to our school community through service
Demonstrate their belief in the word of God
Become active witnesses to our faith
Develop leadership roles in informing, modeling and promoting the virtues
This year we are very fortunate to have so many students who have volunteered to be Ambassadors.
These students are:
Nathan D.
Tiana K.
Izabella R.
Maripaz G.
