Reading
Social Studies
Next week we will be wrapping up our fiction
unit by discussing and determining theme.
Students will review fiction skills in centers and
take the Fiction Reading Assessment next
Friday. In addition we will be reading paired
texts and learning how to cite evidence in
written responses to prepare for our upcoming
PARCC test.
This week students will review for
and take the SS Chapter 12 test on
Thursday, February 25th. Students
will be working on in class on
Industrial Revolution projects. They
randomly selected inventions. They
will learn propaganda techniques,
research their inventions, write a
expository essay and design a
propaganda poster advertising their
invention. Students will work in
groups and individually. All of the
work (except printing pictures or
headings for the poster) will be done
IN CLASS!
Math

5 graders in Mrs. Amoroso’s and Mrs.
Shepard’s are beginning module 7, subtracting
fractions.
Mrs. Kuczek’s Math Class will take a test over
subtracting decimals on Monday and will begin
ordered pairs and graphing.

All 5 graders are working individually with
hands on equations. They are really beginning
to understand algebraic thinking!

Social
Emotional
In Social Emotional Learning we will continue to teach
students to be assertive. Topics include; dealing with
teasing and bullying, dealing with peer pressure, handling
issues with friends and family, asking for what they need
and standing up to injustice.

Science
Congratulations to our Bananapolis winners!
Kaden won furthest banana with 68 feet!
Meredith was the speediest banana with .75
seconds/10 feet. Our most “appealing”
banana was Victoria Fularz
All of the cars were Bananarific!
Bananapolis Journals and reflections are due
MONDAY, February 22nd.
Language Arts
Students will be reassessed for Words Their
Way next week. The writing piece for the
Industrial Revolution poster will be a LA grade
as well.l
