Dear Parents/Guardians;
I would like to extend a warm welcome to you the parents/guardians and to our students of Holy Name of
Mary Catholic Secondary School. We have had a busy summer with several student-centered school
renovations. I’m delighted to tell you that our school is poised for another remarkable year.
As you all know we had four of our teachers retire in June, Ms. Bellmore, Ms. Rodrigues, Ms. Kushnerait
and Ms. Wong. They will be sincerely missed, but we do wish them well as they embark on their new
journey.
At the end of August we had a 5 day Get Ready program for a total of 115 Grade 9 students taught by our
own HNM teachers. The program was a great success and helped our new students settle in. On Thursday
September 3rd our senior students and staff hosted a welcome session for our Grade 9s and once again it
was a great success with almost all of our Grade 9 students participating in this great event.
The staff of Holy Name of Mary is enthusiastically looking forward to working closely with you the
parents/guardians of our students. For it is only in the spirit of collaboration and cooperation that we can
ensure that our students receive an excellent Catholic education.
I have enclosed a magnetic calendar of this year’s important events and would ask that you have it at arms
length and that you refer to it often throughout the year. This calendar is a reminder of the important events
that are scheduled throughout the school year that will keep you informed and connected to your daughter’s
school.
I believe that this year will be an extremely successful one as we feel very settled in our new school. I,
along with the staff here at Holy Name would like to extend an invitation to all students and their families
to help us to work together in a collegial and collaborative manner to ensure that our high standards of
educational excellence continue to live on in our students. To this end, we will be having an open
house/meet the teacher night on Thursday October 1st beginning at 7pm, everyone is welcome.

For it is with the help of God and with the intersession of Mary that our school will continue in its tradition
of excellence.
