This lesson focuses on portrait drawing from direct observation.
VOCABULARY:
Value: The relative degree of light or dark.
Contrast: The use of opposing elements, such as colors, forms, or lines, in proximity to
produce an intensified effect in a work of art.
REQUIREMENTS:
 Photos
 9”x12” drawing of someone else
MATERIALS:
* open medium
*erasers
* 9”x12”
Remember:
 must be a portrait of someone else
 you may use a grid, at a 1”:1” ratio
 you must use photographs and draw from direct observation- do not make this up
from you imagination, I will be able to tell
 use the proportions of the head to help lay out your drawing
 the drawing will not be complete until there is a full range of values
 use a high level of contrast
 this is a homework assignment
