My Role Model
Do you know how some people choose their role model as an actress? Maybe they
choose a singer, musician, or movie star. Maybe it’s an amazing athlete who is known
throughout the entire world or an Olympian with a ton of gold medals. Well, my role model is
right in my country, my state, my city, and in my house right now. It may seem simple, too
simple and too boring, but it’s the truth. They have been with me through thick and thin and I
can’t begin to picture life without them.
My role models are my mom and dad. My mother is Alicia Anne Garvey Darden and my
dad is Michael Alan Darden. One of the reasons I chose my parents is because they are
supportive and loving. My parent help me with school projects, and go to buy supplies I need
for activities or assignments given from school or church. They put me in a Christian school,
Eagles Landing Christian Academy (which is also a church) where I can learn and grow in the
Holy Spirit. They also support me in sports and music such as soccer and piano. I also play
basketball and the clarinet, but only my parents encourage me to make that possible. They are
very happy, as well. Some kids have the misfortune to have divorced parents, sick parents, or
maybe even deceased ones too, but my parents are healthy, breathing and loving people that
dwell on my being as their daughter.
Another reason I chose my parents as my role model is because they are smart and
hard-working. My mom is a veterinarian who fills in as a relief vet and also works in a business
called Pet Loss @ Home. My dad is an accountant and works in the Health Care Business. They
are very hard-working and strive to give me, my brother, and my sister the best they can give.
My mom washes the dishes, cleans the laundry, and takes us everywhere whether it is school,
sports events, and so much more! She is great at Language Arts while my dad works well with
math, which helps me a lot with my homework. My mom went to the University of Georgia for
8 years as my dad went to Georgia State for 4 years.
Also, I picked them because they understand me. Sure, you can talk to your friend about
your everyday situations, but it’s not the same. They show no fear because they have already
faced their own childhood and they know how you feel. Life is too short to sit and wait for
something to come our way. They show dignity and reliability to know I have a shoulder to cry
on. They have been with me ever since I was first sick, hurt, sad, mad, or confused and that
show the love they deserve for all they have done for me.
The final reason I chose them is because they are Christians. They tithe and teach at our
church for Sunday school and pay for our private school, too. They are comforting, helpful,
compassionate, and full of love. We are overwhelmed by the love they give to us to put into our
lives and to impact others with. My life is filled with the grace of them and they are the most
thoughtful people I know. God has blessed me with these two people that I not only call my
parents, but my role models as well. These are the reasons I chose them as my role models!!!
