Answer Two questions: Either A or B, AND either C or D. Both responses should
include a thesis statement, three well-developed body paragraphs, and a concluding
thought.
A. Emotional death can manifest itself in different ways. Examine three characters
who experience emotional death and compare/contrast why they experience it and
the way it manifests itself in that individual. (For instance, some people become
numb, others angry…)
OR
B. When one struggles with his faith in God it can affect him in various ways.
Examine three characters who struggle with their faith in God and
compare/contrast how this struggle affects them. (For instance did it anger them,
sadden them, kill them…)

C. Trace Elie’s and his father’s relationship throughout Night. Begin with their
relationship before they arrive at camp and examine how and why it changes
throughout their experience.
OR
D. And act of kindness or a display of human dignity often gave Elie hope during his
dark experience. Examine three such acts or displays, analyzing their affect on
Elie, as well as the consequences the act/display could have had/did have on the
one who showed it.
