ORIENTATION
2015
53
ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CELL
A fresh start for EDC MSRIT in a new session as the general
proceedings were kick-started with high aspirations, new
faces, some remarkable words and a lot of enthusiasm in
the air. The orientation programme was conducted in the
years in an attempt to give them a glimpse of what EDC is
and what they can expect out of it.
To start with, the audience was shown a video which
was a compilation of some of the best moments from all
the major events that EDC had been a part of in the past.
This was followed by a welcome note from Mr Lingaraju
sir, the faculty co-ordinator of EDC, MSRIT who delivered
an inspiring speech stating the ideals, objectives and
principles of the club. He mentioned that EDC would
always be available for anyone and everyone interested in
entrepreneurship, while also highlighting the achievements
of the club in the past one year.
Further, Harish & Megha, members of the core committee
of EDC took over and they interacted with the audience,
telling them what the club has got to offer for them. The
students were asked what brought them to the orientation.
A number of people came up with vivid answers and each
one of them had its fair share of uniqueness and inspiration.
Then we had Vignesh and company, owners of their very
own start-up (which deals with providing contracts to
budding artists in the city for performances in events)
and notable alumni of MSRIT to share their experiences.
Firstly, they lifted the whole energy level of the hall with
54

an interesting activity which also involved the audience.
Further, each one of them spoke about their journey
from being normal college going students to becoming
entrepreneurs. Their words were very much inspiring for
all the young aspirants present in the audience. They were
given a huge round of applause as they concluded.
Towards the end, the entire core committee of EDC,
MSRIT was introduced to the audience along with other
people who had made remarkable contributions in the
past one year. Finally, The programme, overall, was an
eye-opener for the fresh faces that joined MSRIT this year
and allowed EDC to represent itself like never before,
being more ambitious, delivering more and subsequently
expecting the same. The registration for new-comers was
completed using the registration forms provided to the
audience at the beginning of the programme. And hence,
a new chapter began for EDC, MSRIT with new hopes and
aspirations.

He motivated students to follow their dreams
and never be pulled down by negative
thoughts and feelings. He also sang few
meaningful Kannada poems which gave the
audience a very refreshing break.
The speaker gave instances from his life
where he bounced back after weight loss
and went back to acting and jockeying at
a popular radio station in Bangalore. He
also interacted with the audience by asking
about their experiences in life when they felt
helpless and motivated them to always aim
higher.
He also told that as a nation if we want to

E-TALKIES:
A TALK BY
ACTOR
VINAYAKA
JOSHI
It is always good to have an insight about what the person
on the other side of the table seeks from you. The case is not
very different with entrepreneurs , they won’t miss a chance
to get an investors perspective to funding a start up.
Mr. PG Ponnapa as our guest speaker . Mr. Ponnapa is a
distinguished name in the startup circle and has a career
spanning more than 30 years and has held top positions
in a number of highly reputed companies like Asian Paints
and AOL. He is presently working as a mentor for start-ups
which plan to make it big in this highly competitive, yet
opportunistic world.
It was a two hour session by him, in which he discussed
about the various aspects that an investor looks at before
investing in a company . He also gave an insight about
the various small issues one needs to take care of ,before
and the need of the product in the market were certain
other key points which were discussed by him . Later on
,the session became highly interactive and the students
asked him about their doubts pertaining to start-ups and
the start up culture in India. The questions kept pouring
from various sectors ranging from hardware startups to the
factors which play role in students getting funding for their
startups . All the questions were answered by the speaker
with ease but at the same time very convincingly . One
could have been very sure, that everyone present in the talk
interaction with Mr Ponnapa .

With hopes of having Mr Ponnapa back in the campus
really soon , we brought the talk to a close with few words
from our faculty coordinator Mr Dr Lingaraju .

CREATHIVES
CreatHives, an incubated company at Entrepreneurship Development
Cell has been able to connect to various investors and grant agencies.
It all began in 2011, when a bunch of
theatre enthusiasts from Ramaiah college
were asked to put up a performance for
the Bangalore Mirror Amateur Theartre
Festival. When they showcased their act,
86, based on the Sri lankan civil war, they
left their judge in tears. It was on that day,
TEA Arts, a creative arts society was formed.
From enacting scripts that were close
to their heart to mentoring nearly 150
artists who have gone on to break ground
in the arenas of performing and digital
arts gave them immense motivation.
TEA Arts pioneered The Bangalore Theatre
League the same year and has gone on to
host two consecutive leagues thereafter.
Simultaneously, TEA Arts, has been chosen
to host performance campaigns for The

TEA Arts, through its CreatHives initiative, has chalked
out a balanced plan to dissolve the imbalance between the
market requirement and what the artists have to offer by
curating a viable meeting ground.ey believe that networking with a focused and well-researched approach,
will help artists and connoisseurs to connect meaningfully.
CreatHives is a web and mobile application to enable this networking between artists and vendors, with the help of a few

Core Team Head, EDC
2014-15)
EDC has always been my second
home. It feels amazing to work
with so many like minded people
and the atmosphere here is
totally spectacular. Moreover the
Leadership skills that one learns
being part of the EDC is the best
things that anyone can learn.
EDC has given me a different
perspective to life. The journey
of being an Entrepreneur in itself
is thrilling. And EDC gives us the
oppurtunity to experience that.
(2015-16)
EDC is a place where even if your
dreams are vague, it comes true.
Leading hundreds would be a
dream for all but never knew my
dream would come true in such
short time.I never knew my true
potential until i joined EDC. Being
an introvert and transforming to a
complete extrovert isn’t that easy
but EDC helped me.Happiness is
when you see that your ideas get
implemented and its a success.
So EDC is all about happiness.
(2015-16)
EDC for me can be described as
something which has brought
about a changein the way I
look at things. It has given me
insights and knowledge on a
number of things which I may
have never learnt if not for EDC.
In short, EDC has been a journey
which I feel, will make me a tad
bit different and a lot more
inspired than those who haven’t
been there to learn about the
magic called Entrepreneurship.
(2015-16)
EDC has been an amazing
journey in my life. It has brought
about a change in the way
I think and perceive things
around me. It has taught me
the sense of responisibility and
moreover the art of Risk Taking.
The sense of accomplishment
when you see your ideas
getting
implemented
and
getting an oppurtunity to
become a mentor to your
peers is an amusement in itself.
