JOB SUMMARY: Plans, develops and coordinates academic support services & enrichment activities for
disadvantaged high school students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.
Plan, develop, and coordinate the activities of the Upward Bound Program to
include recruitment of students, faculty, and staff; development of curriculum;
and scheduling of classes, tutoring, and enrichment activities.

Provide management, direction, and guidance to program instructors, and
staff to include orientation, performance appraisals, coaching, and
professional development.

3.
Ensure proper communication and integration of services with administrators,
faculty, and staff of the targeted high schools, as well as, administrators and
staff of EPCCD.

4.
Develop, implement, maintain, and evaluate program activities and provide a
student progress tracking system for reporting purposes; prepare reports as
required.

5.
Manage and monitor budget expenditures and ensure compliance with Federal
Regulations and with EPCC district policies and procedures.

Build and maintain liaison with local community, state and federal agencies,
educational institutions, and social service agencies, as needed to benefit
program goals.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES: Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and insurable by
the district’s auto liability insurance carrier.
SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1.
Skills/Abilities: Ability to work effectively with a diverse population having sensitivity to
cultural issues; leadership and teambuilding skills; ability to communicate effectively both
oral and written; strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
2.
Equipment Used: Personal Computer and other equipment associated with an office
environment.
3.
Software Used: A variety of spreadsheet, word-processing, database, e-mail, and presentation
software.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Duties require little physical effort in work with light (up to 10lbs), easy to handle materials.
Duties performed causes light fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other faculties due to long periods of
standing, sitting, and/or repetitive motion. Travel required to all campus locations on a regular
basis and travel occasionally to local service areas.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Alternative or combined skills in understanding, counseling, and/or influencing people are
important in achieving job objectives, causing action, understanding others, or changing behavior;
and, skills of persuasiveness or assertiveness, as well as sensitivity to the point of view of others.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Job is performed in general office or comparable working area with many and frequent
distractions such as noise, interruptions, or congested work areas with exposure to some
disagreeable elements.
