JOB SUMMARY: To provide academic and fiscal leadership for an assigned group of disciplines of a
specific campus. This includes planning and evaluation, selection and supervision of faculty and staff,
developing and managing the academic programs in coordination with the other academic deans, and all
activities required to meet the strategic goals of the assigned area.

1. Develop, implement, manage and evaluate academic programs and

community outreach services; provide program advice to faculty, staff and
students.

Develop, recommend and evaluate short and long-range strategic academic
plans and related policies/procedures; monitor programs, manage campus
enrollments in coordination with other Deans; maintain accreditation
standards; implement approved programs; recommend modifications as
required.

3.
Build relationships with local industry representatives and outside agencies to
determine needs for programs; oversee the development and evaluation of
academic services and courses to meet the needs of students and the
community; participate in professional and community activities.

4.
Responsible for personnel management activities for assigned departments.
Major functions to include recommendations for employment, promotion,
supervisions and evaluating assigned personnel and providing guidance and
support concerning personal and professional development.

5.
Develop class schedules and assignment of space for maximum effectiveness
of resources; oversee the adoption and ordering of textbooks.

6.
Develop budget recommendations; manage approved budget; monitor
equipment/inventories for multiple programs.

7.
Participate as a voting member or liaison of standing committees for the
District.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Master’s degree in education, administration or a directly related field.
EXPERIENCE: Nine (9) years experience in college teaching, instructional administration,
program planning and development, planning and budgeting in an academic environment, or
similarly related field.

Decision making, time management, goal setting, and planning abilities necessary.
